Description:
This is the digital artwork that I have a keen interest in putting in which I've personally discovered a few years ago when it's going viral around the Tumbler platform in 2016. This digital artwork is based on the game Persona 5 as you can feel the similarity of the mascot/main character of the game by looking at the mask. After discovering, researching and learning about design principles, there's a few I can take from this artwork, such as Balance , Contrast , and Word & Imaging .
- Balance:
Balance is the first principle I'd notice from this artwork, such as the drawings are mirroring, the angle of curve of the words are too. Here, I'd draw crucial lines to depict the principle that is happening in this digital work.
- Contrast:
Harmony & Unity is another principle I've noticed from this artwork, mainly by the color palette chosen for this artwork that only consists of 3 colors: Red, Black, White. Therefore, these colors have created a strong solid vibe aka depicting a strong riot, and violent energy that is coming from this artwork.
- Word & Imaging:
For me, Word & Imaging has been the most obvious principle for this artwork, the typography style and the text itself is depicting the illustration of this artwork. Such as the sentence itself "Give A Man A Mask & He'll Become His True Self" is accompanied by a character wearing a mask in a rather vicious way which totally fits the sentences chosen.

RATIONALE
For this artwork specifically, I have been out of the box since this is the kind of artstyle I'm not so much of a fond of. I'd experiment a lot with the linearts and the details I put on. The elements I put in are emphasized both in color and the graphic itself. Compared to the original artwork, I can say that mine looks like there's more going on as I made the characters appear and more of the side graphics surrounding the main focus to create more drama which is the whole point of this artwork. Not only do the graphics or the drawing that matters, the typography or texts are involved too as it is one of the other biggest elements contained in the original artwork.
Design Principles contained:
This artwork focuses heavily on contrast and balance (asymmetrical). Contrast, the 3 color palette being the only colors to represent the drama that is happening in the artwork. Red, being the source of energy of the vibe. White, the base color to showcase the graphics. And finally black, the shadow to create more depth within the artwork. Balance, specifically asymmetrical, this helps shows the perspective of an angle from below except that it's also bent to the right that results to asymmetric angle, however it helps consider more of the objects and graphics that are involved in the artwork.
The meaning of the design:
To start with, the quote or the text "Give A Man A Mask and He'll become His True Self" in the artwork/poster is the huge indicator of the meaning of design. Based on my artwork, I'd show more of the character's appearance holding a mask while his spectacles/glasses are dropped, the spectacles being the most common object or accessory representing the original or general identity of the character, on the other hand, the mask represents an accessory that hides one identity. This indicates that the character proudly dropping the spectacles and replacing it's position with the mask is now switching to his new personality or rather his true self.

REFLECTION
- What have i learnt in this module?
I've learnt the principles and the importance of a design. Moreover, I learned that each principle plays its role well without clashing with the artwork. The more I deepen into it, the more I learn the importance of these principles, it's very crucial to the elements and the nature of an artwork can illustrate itself. Each assignments let me practice my knowledge further and with further assistance by my lecturer, Mr. Vinod. In addition, this module has widen my range in creating or improving a design which is crucial to the development of my skills.
- What did i enjoy the most?
What I've enjoyed as a student in this module is that, not only do i get the knowledge but I'm able to experiment with it through the assignments, specifically the Task 3 where Mr. Vinod also shares his thoughts of my work and progress.
- What did i not enjoy the most?
I'd have to say that researching or putting in valid information throughout Task 2 was my weak spot. At some point, i didn't quite catch the crucial part until I had a feedback session with Mr. Vinod. In addition, I'd feel unsatisfied with any work i did that I'm unsure of. - What have i learnt about myself through this module?
Well, the first thing to point out is that I'm a person who certainly prefer practical rather than researching, however, I am indeed aware the crucial part of researching as it is the step to find all source of knowledge and information. With that, I learnt that I tend to like to be out of my comfort zone or out of the box, I like to experiment with multiple artstyles such as what i did in Task 3, I'm not particularly into 2D artstyles that much but i found out how it can help me reach my skills further and have fun. - What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
One obvious thing that's changed is the development of my knowledge and skill, eventhough I'd like to have my own ideas , i tend to never actually seize people's interest towards my work. However, with this module, I'm able to see what has been lacking in my artworks. - What are my aspirations?
I truly looking forward to have bigger opportunity and motivation to develop more of my skill before showcasing it to more desired audiences.
